Deadline: 07-Sep-2025
The U.S. Embassy in Dhaka has announced the 2025 call for proposals for the Fulbright Specialist Program, a unique initiative of the U.S. Department of State that connects foreign host institutions with highly qualified U.S. academics and professionals to strengthen institutional links and foster meaningful cultural and educational exchange.
The focus areas of the program include American literature, American History, American Studies, American Values and their Global Impact, Business, Communication, Computer Science, Constitutional Law, Cultural Heritage Preservation, Economics, Education, Energy, Engineering, Information Technology, International Relations, Journalism, Political Science, Philosophy, Public Administration, Public Policy/Leadership Studies, Military and Strategic Studies, Religious Studies, and Security Studies.
The Fulbright Specialist Program offers host institutions the opportunity to design projects that align with their priorities while benefiting from the expertise of U.S. Specialists through activities that emphasize education and training. To celebrate America’s 250th anniversary, the Embassy is encouraging proposals with an America 250 theme. Eligible host institutions include higher education institutions, government institutions, cultural institutions such as museums and conservatories, as well as non-governmental organizations including think tanks and issue-centered institutions.
Projects must have a clear educational or training focus with concrete objectives that can be achieved during the Specialist’s visit. Activities may include seminars, trainings, workshops, lectures, curriculum and materials development, program evaluations, or institutional planning. Personal research projects, clinical medical research, and activities involving direct patient contact are not eligible.
Each exchange assignment must last between 14 and 42 days, including weekends, holidays, and travel. Projects are restricted to one country and each is limited to one Fulbright Specialist. Program funding is shared, with the U.S. Department of State covering roundtrip airfare, health benefits, and a daily honorarium, while host institutions provide lodging, meals, in-country transportation, and airport transfers either as stipends or in-kind support.
Institutions may request a specific Specialist but are not required to identify one at the proposal stage. If a project is approved, World Learning, the implementing partner, will match the institution with a Specialist from the Fulbright roster who fits the project’s requirements.
This program presents a valuable opportunity for Bangladeshi institutions to collaborate with U.S. experts, strengthen their institutional capacity, and promote academic and cultural exchange.
