The Carlsberg Foundation is offering grants to support the professional communication of topics in the natural sciences, social sciences, and humanities to audiences outside the scientific community.
These grants aim to promote science communication that enhances public education and encourages general interest in basic research. The foundation supports collaborations between researchers and professional communicators to strengthen the role of science in society and public discourse.
The goals of the Science Communication initiative include making scientific research accessible to non-scientific audiences, connecting science to socially relevant issues, and encouraging fact-based public debates. It also aims to build stronger partnerships between communicators and researchers, raise public curiosity about science, and promote trust in reliable scientific sources to combat misinformation.
Funding is available for communication projects lasting up to three years, with grant amounts ranging from DKK 200,000 to DKK 3,000,000.
Eligible applicants include independent communicators, public institutions, private companies, and non-profit organizations based in Denmark, Greenland, or the Faroe Islands. Applicants must have communication as their primary profession and possess proven professional experience in journalism, media production, or similar fields. Private companies can apply only if the project is non-commercial and serves a non-profit purpose.
Funding is not available for projects with a scientific research or clinical focus, educational recruitment initiatives, media training or coaching for researchers, commercial projects, teaching materials, or general information campaigns.
