Equitas is pleased to launch a call for applications to select civil society organizations to participate in the Advancing Gender Equality through Human Rights Education Program in Tunisia and Morocco.
“Advancing Gender Equality through Human Rights Education” is a program conducted in Tunisia and Morocco by Equitas- International Center for Human Rights Education, in collaboration with local organizations committed to promoting the rights of women and girls. Funded by the Ministry of International Relations and La Francophonie of Quebec.
The purpose of the program is to strengthen the capacity of organizations to implement human rights education activities (training sessions, advocacy or awareness campaigns, etc.) that promote gender equality. To this end, the program provides participating organizations with face-to-face and online training, small grants and support to implement community-based human rights education initiatives, face-to-face and online workshops and coaching sessions, and various networking, support and evaluation activities.
Objectives
By the end of the program, participating organizations should be able to:
- Use a framework based on human rights standards and principles to analyze issues in their context, including the particular challenges faced by girls and women in their communities;
- Integrate a participatory approach in their Human Rights education work to promote the inclusion of all people from a gender equality perspective;
- Put into practice strategies to promote gender equality in their organization’s Human Rights education work;
- Explore networking opportunities essential to advancing gender equality in their country and the MENA region;
- Employ a basic evaluation process to assess the results of their human rights education activities.
- Program’s Learning Model: This Human Rights education program is based on the principles of experiential adult learning. Most of the content comes from the participants, with the program providing the framework for sharing experiences. The focus is on applying what is learned and developing strategies for action. Ongoing reflection and evaluation play a central role in this learning process.
Eligibility Criteria
The organizations submitting an application must:
- Demonstrate a commitment to the promotion and protection of Human Rights;
- Be engaged in activities to promote Gender Equality and/or the rights of women and girls;
- Commit to facilitating, within their organization, the transfer and use of the knowledge acquired through the program;
- Commit to participate in all activities planned under the program (July 2022 to March 2024), including the implementation of a community-based Human Rights education initiative to promote gender equality.
- The program is primarily designed for civil society organizations. However, applications from national Human Rights institutions, government agencies, educational institutions or other types of non-profit organizations that have undertaken Human Rights education activities may also be considered.
- Applicants from qualified organizations must:
- Have been an active employee or volunteer of their organization for at least 2 years, or since its inception for organizations that have been in existence for less than 2 years;
- Have experience in Human Rights education (training, awareness raising, advocacy, etc.)
- Be able to influence the Human Rights education activities carried out by their organization;
- Commit to sharing the knowledge gained from the program with their colleagues and other stakeholders;
- Commit to playing an active role in all program activities, including the planning, implementation and evaluation of a community-based Human Rights education initiative to promote gender equality;
- Be sensitive to the challenges raised by gender equality and respect diversity in training activities, networking and the development of new programs and partnerships;
- Be fluent in French or Arabic.
