Deadline: 15-Oct-2025
The Embassy of the Czech Republic in Damascus has announced the call for submissions for the 2026 Small Scale Projects, aimed at providing financial contributions to support local development initiatives in Syria.
Projects that promote local development, improve health or medical care, eradicate poverty, make education available, educate people in rural areas, protect the environment, improve the position of women in society or promote coexistence between ethnic and religious communities are the focus. A crucial condition is project sustainability, meaning the project should be able to run in the future without further financial support.
This call is part of the Czech Republic’s development cooperation program and is open to local entities in Syria with legal subjectivity and the ability to enter into contracts under Czech jurisdiction. Eligible applicants include educational, health, social or cultural institutions, non-governmental non-profit organizations, cooperatives, and territorial units. Political entities and individuals are not eligible to apply.
Funding ranges from 200,000 CZK to 500,000 CZK, with no co-financing requirement, though it is encouraged. Project expenses must be documented, and costs related to salaries, subsistence, accommodation, travel, insurance, and vaccination may not exceed 25% of the total budget. Administrative expenses of the implementing organization are not covered.
Organizations may submit multiple proposals, but only one project per applicant will be funded. Supported projects should begin in March 2026 following contract signing and must be completed by 29 October 2026. Any tangible assets funded must display the Czech development cooperation logo, and intangible assets must acknowledge Czech financial support.
Applications require a completed Identification Form in English, a verified copy of the applicant’s legal registration document (in or translated into English), and confirmation of the signatory’s authorization. Applications must be delivered in paper form to the Czech Embassy in Damascus by 15 October 2025, with scanned versions sent in PDF and Excel formats by email before mailing.
