The Embassy of the Czech Republic in Bosnia and Herzegovina invites students to apply for the Scholarship Programme to continue their further education in one of the Czech higher education centers.
Within the scope of foreign development cooperation, the Czech Republic provides scholarships for the following studies: pursued in the Czech language: Bachelor’s study programmes (three to four-year-long) in selected areas of study, Follow-up Master’s study programmes (two to three-year-long) in selected areas of study, Language and preparatory studies (one-year long) – provided by the Institute for Language and Preparatory Studies of Charles University, pursued in the English language: Selected follow-up Master’s study programmes (two-year-long programmes), Selected Doctoral study programmes (three- to four-year-long programmes).
Candidates must be citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina with permanent residence in the country. They should be willing to undertake and successfully complete a full university study program at one of the Czech Republic’s public universities. Candidates must have completed the required previous level of education before beginning their chosen program. Those holding dual citizenship, one of which is from the European Union, or individuals with permanent residence in the Czech Republic, are not eligible for these scholarships.
Scholarships are available for studies in both Czech and English. For programs in Czech, students are required to complete a one-year mandatory Czech language course and preparatory studies before attempting entrance exams in their chosen fields, which include Business and Administration, Natural Sciences, Mathematics and Statistics, Agriculture, Forestry, Fisheries, and Veterinary Medicine, Information and Communication Technologies, and Engineering, Manufacturing, and Construction. For programs in English, sufficient knowledge of English is necessary, verified through a language test. The eligible fields in English are the same as those available in Czech.
Applicants must complete the online application and then undertake a general study skills test, and if applying for an English program, an additional English language test. Tests are conducted online and evaluated electronically. Shortlisted candidates will be invited for interviews in October 2025. The final decision on scholarships will be made by a scholarship commission in Prague in April or May 2026, with successful candidates notified by May or June 2026.
Applicants are required to submit complete documentation in two copies, including legalized and certified translations of essential academic, identification, and medical records. Additional documents such as a CV, signed declarations, proof of prior education, and in the case of doctoral candidates, research proposals, publication records, and recommendation letters are also required. Only complete applications will be considered, and incomplete ones will be returned without further reasoning. The application deadline is September 30, 2025.
