The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) kindly requests you to submit your Proposal for education and training services to support Innovation Hubs in Autonomous Region of Bougainville (AROB) under Sustaining Peace through Economic Empowerment Project in Bougainville Project in Papua New Guinea.
UNDP seeks the services of a specialized firm to undertake education and training services in support of Innovation Hubs in Autonomous Region of Bougainville (AROB). Engagement with stakeholder will also be a key task for the firm to ensure all relevant parties are informed and engaged in construction of the innovation hubs.
Innovation hubs support early-stage entrepreneurs through education, mentorship, and infrastructure to help accelerate the business idea and establish a viable business entity that then becomes Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME).
The Planned innovation hubs will deliver services and activities related to the betterment and economic empowerment of the Bougainville community including:
- Working space equipped with furniture, computers, communications and office equipment;
- Common areas (meeting rooms, rooms for meetings and trainings, kitchen space, etc.);
- Provision of advisory services through either an inhouse business advisor or a roaming one that could deliver basic services, such as secretarial services, administration, accounting and library and internet services;
- Entrepreneurship training and services related to business set up, local laws, finance, bank services;
- Organising thematic seminars and workshops focussed on specific audience (youth, women) or industry sectors (fishing, cocoa, tourism and others);
- Multi-purpose exhibition areas and seminar rooms catering for diverse stakeholders.
Eligibility Criteria
- The firm shall have prior experience in conducting similar assignments, and should possess the following:
- Proven track record in undertaking works of similar nature during the last three (3) years; Provide evidence of past similar projects, including contact references (company, contact person, email address and telephone number).
- The organisation has continuous experience in market-based approaches to economic empowerment at community level, as well as experience in conducting training and capacity building in natural resource management, green entrepreneurship, business development, also in Tok Pissin language.
- Capacity to deliver expected results: technical capacity, governance and management capacity, and financial and administrative capacity, with functioning internal processes (e.g., planning, programming, monitoring and evaluation.
- The Project Coordinator:
- Bachelor’s degree in business development, economics or related field is required;
- At least 3 years of experience of managing programmes and projects involving inter-agency cooperation and multi-stakeholder groups with participation of state institutions, civil society organizations, and international development agencies;
- Good understanding on community development and economic empowerment issues;
- Competent in coordination, planning and team work;
- Previous work experience with UN agencies and/or international organizations is an advantage;
- Fluency in English and Tok Pissin is preferred.
- Requirements to Trainer/s:
- Nominate at least two trainer
- Minimum five years of relevant professional experience in efficient natural resource management, green entrepreneurship, sustainable business development, preferably also in promoting gender equality and women economic empowerment;
- Demonstrable experience in writing/developing training materials (written samples should be provided);
- Proven experience and skills in conducting training in the Tok Pissin language while being aware of gender differences requiring specific approaches and using participatory learning
- Fluency in English and Tok Pissin.
