Deadline: 24-Jan-22
The National Centre for Research and Development is pleased to announce that the call for applications to participate in European Crucible 2022 is now live.
The European Crucible is a leadership and development programme for early/mid-career researchers from Scotland and Europe that offers opportunities to build new interdisciplinary research collaborations between Scotland and Europe.
European Crucible 2022 will be run as a series of interactive virtual “Labs” held between late March and early May 2022. Participation is open to all research disciplines. Ambitious University Lecturers and Readers (i.e. Assistant and Associate Professors), Research Fellows and equivalents in Research Institutes and industry (with experience of managing their own research but wishing to take this to a higher level internationally), are encouraged to apply.
A cohort of fifty researchers, twenty-five from Scottish institutions and twenty-five from institutions across European countries, will be selected for the programme by a panel of top researchers.
The 2022 European Crucible will once again be run as a virtual programme and is supported by the Scottish Government via the Scottish Funding Council.
How does the European Crucible Programme work?
The Crucible is an intensive, interactive, programme comprising four virtual workshops, or ‘labs’, held over three weeks. The labs will be facilitated by experienced science journalists, Vivienne Parry and Quentin Cooper, and will include contributions from a range of senior colleagues from research-related sectors. Crucible participants will be asked to present a mini-poster of their research areas and interests, and there will be networking sessions and pitching practice before a mock panel of real funding experts.
Fifty percent of available places are for researchers working in Scotland; fifty percent will be allocated to researchers working in other European countries.
