Deadline: 01-Sep-2025
The Wolfson Foundation provides funding for research-intensive universities and research institutions. They award grants for new buildings, refurbishment work, and major equipment to support high-quality research. Occasionally, they also fund projects to improve access to research libraries or enhance public engagement with science.
Projects related to research infrastructure should aim to expand high-quality research into new fields or increase output from existing research, including fostering new collaborations. They should also aim to improve the quality of research or produce work that has a clear impact benefiting either the academic community or the public.
Typical grants range from £250,000 to £1 million, with a minimum grant amount of £100,000. The foundation does not fund the purchase of land or existing buildings, grants to individuals, grants through conduit organizations, overheads, maintenance costs, VAT, non-specific appeals, or endowment funds. They also exclude costs related to meetings, exhibitions, concerts, expeditions, conferences, lectures, salary costs, running costs such as vehicle fuel and maintenance, film, websites or promotional materials, loan repayments, or projects already completed or expected to be completed by the time of the award.
Eligible organizations must be research-intensive universities or research institutions undertaking internationally competitive research.
