The Japan Foundation has launched a new grant program to support organizations involved in Japanese-language education in selected Asian countries.
A grant program has been launched to support the purchase of teaching materials and the printing and binding of IRODORI: Japanese for Life in Japan, a textbook designed to help learners gain practical language skills for daily life and work in Japan.
This initiative is specifically intended for organizations working with individuals who are either living in Japan or planning to move there under the Specified Skilled Worker status of residence. The program recognizes the growing need for accessible language education in regions preparing workers for life in Japan and aims to make essential resources more readily available.
The grant is available to eligible organizations in Mongolia, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Uzbekistan. These countries currently offer the JFT-Basic language test but do not have a local Japan Foundation office, making them priority areas for additional support.
Eligible projects include those that clearly demonstrate the necessity of the grant, show potential for positive impact, and are not affiliated with any political or religious agenda.
Only organizations or groups—not individuals—can apply for the grant. Applicants must have the ability to carry out their proposed project, comply with local laws regarding foreign grants, and possess or be able to open a bank account in the organization’s name to receive the funds. Government bodies and international organizations with direct ties to governments are not eligible for this grant.
This grant presents a valuable chance for language education providers to expand their reach and improve their resources. It supports efforts that directly contribute to smoother integration and success for foreign workers and residents in Japan.
