Deadline: 01-Sep-2025
The Wolfson Foundation provides funding to performing arts organisations to improve their training and education facilities. They mainly award grants for building or refurbishing these facilities, and sometimes for purchasing specialist equipment related to training and education.
The funding aims to support better engagement with audiences, increase the number of participants, improve the future sustainability of the organisation, and conserve architectural heritage. Grants usually range from £50,000 to £150,000, with a minimum amount of £15,000.
Eligible projects should focus on improving the quality of training and education facilities and align with the organisation’s strategic priorities. Projects that are not eligible include purchasing land or existing buildings, grants to individuals or through conduit organisations, overheads, maintenance costs, VAT, non-specific appeals, costs related to meetings or events, salary costs, running costs like vehicle fuel, film or promotional materials, loan repayments, and projects already completed or near completion by the time of the award.
To apply, organisations must be operated by a registered charity or a local authority. They should focus primarily on professional performance, with performing arts being the main activity. Applicants must also demonstrate the significance of their education work within the sector, and for those operating a venue, the artistic programme’s importance will also be considered.
