Deadline: 03-Nov-2025
Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day is an annual campaign that takes place during Engineers Week with the goal of introducing K-12 girls and boys – all are invited to the fascinating world of engineering.
DiscoverE is offering grants to support organizations hosting events for Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day, also known as Girl Day, scheduled for February 26, 2026. These grants aim to inspire K–12 girls and students of marginalized genders to explore the world of engineering through hands-on activities and interactions with role models.
Eligible organizations can apply for grants ranging from $250 to $1,000. The funds are intended to assist with programmatic expenses such as site rental, meals for participants, transportation, photography, educational materials, and essential project supplies. However, the funds cannot be used for student scholarships or tuition reimbursement.
Grantees are required to collect feedback from participating students and volunteers through a short online survey. Additionally, a brief report must be submitted within 30 days after the event, including digital photos or videos from the event and permission to use these materials in marketing efforts. DiscoverE provides templates for photo release forms and signage to post at large events.
DiscoverE encourages events that offer students open-ended, hands-on engineering challenges. As part of its “Access for All” mission, activities that use low-cost, everyday materials are preferable to projects that rely on pre-designed activity kits. For activity ideas, DiscoverE offers an engineering activity website featuring over 170 activities that can be filtered by age group, topic, time, and engineering career connection.
This grant opportunity provides organizations with the resources to inspire and engage the next generation of engineers, fostering a diverse and inclusive STEM community.
