The Vodafone Foundation together with NASSCOM Foundation, its implementation partner, is currently accepting applications from NGOs and Social Enterprises using mobile technologies for Mobile for Good (M4G) Awards to recognise life changing mobile solutions driving social change in India.
The Mobile for Good Awards recognise and supports emerging talent and innovative mobile solutions from NGOs/NFPs that facilitate community empowerment and inclusive growth.

Objectives
Objectives of the Mobile for Good Awards include:
- Set up a sustainable, robust and scalable awards programme in India, highlighting Vodafone Foundation’s key focus – ‘Mobile for Good’ – in India
- Recognise NGOs/NPOs, other social organisations and entrepreneurs that demonstrate innovation in mobile and wireless-related technology, to address critical social issues that are aligned to Vodafone Foundation’s strategic focus areas
- Showcase and curate leading mobile technology related innovations in the social sector through the Social App Hub.
- Incubating award winners with credible partners from media, universities, start-ups and incubators, etc., to help them upscale and build capacity of their projects
Award Categories
The 2016 Awards consist of two Awards categories, namely:
Leading Change Maker – NPO Category
Focused on recognising projects / initiatives by

- Government Organisations
Leading Change Maker – For profit category
Focused on recognising projects / initiatives by for
- Profit organisations
- Individuals
Award Information
- The M4G Awards 2016 ‘Leading Change Maker- NPO Category’ winners will receive recognition, Awards grant and mentorship to winning NGOs/NFPs. This year, the total Awards grant is INR 90, 00,000.
- This will provide six winning NGOs in the category (excluding government solutions winner) with access to crucial funding of INR 1,500,000 (fifteen lakh rupees) each, over a period of one year.
- In addition, the six winning NGOs (excluding sub category government solutions) will receive structured mentoring, monitoring and impact evaluation support from credible institutions, incubators, etc. to upscale and build greater capacity of their projects.
- There will be one winner in the ‘M4G Award 2016 for Achievement – Government solution’ category, who will receive a recognition certificate.
- The five M4G Awards 2016 ‘Leading Change Maker- For profit Category’ winners will receive a recognition certificate.
Eligibility Criteria
M4G 2016 Award to Leading Change makers – NPO category:
- Indian registered NPO’s who have been registered on or before 30 June 2013 (three years from the announcement of awards)
- However, any NPO which is not registered in India but has a presence across three or more locations and can showcase work experience of not less than 5 years with tie-up with Indian registered NPOs is eligible. In case the NPO is not registered in India, it can participate in a consortium/ association with an Indian Registered NPO. Also the funding grant will be released to the registered NPO in India of the consortium/ association.
- All government agencies/ departments/ministries are eligible to apply under the separate sub category “Government Solutions”. However, there shall be no funding grant. The award to them shall be in the form of certificates/ souvenirs.
- The project/initiative shall be based on Mobile platform or shall leverage mobile-based technologies.
- The project/initiative shall be in operation/ implementation for a period of minimum 6 months (preferably 6 months to one year)
- The applicants with FCRA compliance shall only be eligible to apply
- The NPO shall be capable of demonstrating the success, scalability and sustainability of their project (through documentations – success stories etc.)
M4G 2016 Award to Leading Change makers – For Profit category:
- This Award Category is open for projects from Social Enterprise/ For Profit Organisation /Individuals.
- The M4G Social Enterprise/ For Profit (Best Mobile Solution) is open for all Indian registered Social Enterprise/ For Profit Organizations, who have been registered on or before 30 June 2012 (three years from the announcement of awards)
- The M4G Social Enterprise/ For Profit (Best Mobile Solution) is open for all Individuals who are Indian Nationals and can submit proof for the same.
- The projects from Social Enterprise/ For Profit Organisation/ Individuals shall be based on Mobile platforms or shall leverage mobile-based technologies.
- Social Enterprise/ For profit Organisation/ Individual shall be capable of demonstrating the success, scalability and sustainability of their project.
- The project/initiative shall be in operation/ implementation for a period of minimum 6 months (preferably 6 months to one year)
