Nominations are now open for the 2021 TDOT/KTnB Awards of Excellence.
Award Categories
- Category 1: Public Education
- First ($4,000), second ($2,000), and third ($1,000) awards will be given to organizations or individuals for outstanding public education activities involving citizens working together to improve their community’s appearance. Applications will be accepted for the following sub-categories:
- Adults
- Businesses
- Government
- Media
- Schools – Grades K-8
- Schools – Grades 9-12
- Higher Education – Junior Colleges, Universities & Vocational
- First ($4,000), second ($2,000), and third ($1,000) awards will be given to organizations or individuals for outstanding public education activities involving citizens working together to improve their community’s appearance. Applications will be accepted for the following sub-categories:
- Category 2: Public Participation
- Given to an organization or group of individuals who are superior in the promotion, participation, and scope of a public participation event ($2,000 each category).
- Category 3: Leadership
- Edith Heller Lifetime Achievement Award: The Edith Heller Lifetime Achievement Award is presented in grateful appreciation of her 30 plus years of dedicated service to Tennessee and the nation. The award money of $2,000 will be given to the non-profit environmental organization of his/her choice.
- Larry E. Potter Law Enforcement Award: The Larry E. Potter Law Enforcement Award is a once in a lifetime award recognizing a law enforcement professional, such as a police officer, prosecutor, judge or environmental compliance officer, who has gone above and beyond in their approaches to enforcement of environmental laws and regulations. The winner will receive $2,000 which will be given to the non-profit environmental organization of his/her choice.
- Outstanding Educational and Community Leadership: Community Volunteer: One $1,500 award will be given to an organization and/or individual for outstanding educational and community leadership. Serving as role model (s), this person (s) of leadership has given beyond the norm.
- Martin L. Kennedy Award For Outstanding TN Keep America Beautiful Affiliate Coordinator: One $1,500 award will be given to an individual for outstanding educational and community leadership. Serving as role model (s), this person (s) of leadership has given beyond the norm as a TN KAB Affiliate Coordinator.
- Category 4 TDOT County Litter Grant Program
- Class A Award : One $6,000 award will be given a Litter Grant Program in one of the following counties: Bedford, Benton, Bledsoe, Campbell, Cannon, Cheatham, Chester, Claiborne, Clay, Cocke, Crockett, Decatur, DeKalb, Dyer, Fayette, Fentress, Franklin, Grainger, Grundy, Hancock, Hardeman, Hardin, Haywood, Henderson, Hickman, Houston, Humphreys, Jackson, Jefferson, Johnson, Lake, Lauderdale, Lewis, Loudon, Macon, Marion, Marshall, McNairy, Meigs, Moore, Morgan, Overton, Perry, Pickett, Polk, Rhea, Scott, Sequatchie, Smith, Stewart, Tipton, Trousdale, Unicoi, Union, and Van Buren, Warren, Wayne, and White Counties.
- Class B Award: One $6,000 award will be given to a Litter Grant Program in one of the following counties: Anderson, Blount, Bradley, Carroll, Carter, Coffee, Cumberland, Davidson, Dickson, Gibson, Giles, Greene, Hamblen, Hamilton, Hawkins, Henry, Knox, Lawrence, Lincoln, McMinn, Madison, Maury, Monroe, Montgomery, Obion, Putnam, Roane, Robertson, Rutherford, Sevier, Shelby, Sullivan, Sumner, Washington, Weakley, Williamson, and Wilson Counties.
- Category 5 Keep America Beautiful TN Affiliate Award
- Awards will be given for first ($6,000), second ($4,000), and third ($2,000) to TN based KAB applicants. Affiliates must be in good standing with KAB national office.
