The Gabay Guro Scholarship Program offers financial assistance to qualified students who wish to pursue a career in education while studying in Palawan.
An applicant for the scholarship must have the following qualifications: Must be a Filipino citizen and bona fide resident of Palawan, and a freshman admitted or currently enrolled in the following disciplines: Bachelor of Secondary Education Major in English, Math, and Science. Must not be a recipient of any other scholarship grant, including any educational plan or similar plan with benefits exceeding Php7,500.00 per semester; Must have obtained a general weighted average of at least 85% during their last year in senior high school; Must be of good moral character and has not been held liable in any disciplinary action; Must be a child or dependent whose parents are earning not more than P250,000.00 annually.
The scholarship will only be granted to full-time students. The scholarship is renewable every semester up to a maximum of eight (8) regular semesters for the undergraduate program, provided that he/she satisfies the following conditions: Terms: Must be in their first year of study, carrying a regular load, and graduated from senior high school with an average of at least 85%. Coverage: Maximum of eight (8) semesters. Scholarship maintenance: Must maintain a general weighted average (GWA) not lower than 2.25 (85%), no failing grade, conditional, or incomplete. Dropping of subject/s may be allowed depending on the circumstances.
The scholarship grant shall be automatically and completely terminated if: He/She fails to meet the grade and other requirements. Fails to regain a “good standing” status despite probationary period given; Abandons the scholarship grant; Fails to enroll or drops course/s in any semester, provided that non-enrollment or dropping is due to a disabling sickness, in which case, the continuation of the grant will be considered on a case-by-case basis by the Grantor and the University. Shifts to another course other than the priority courses specified (BSEd Major in English, Math & Science). He/She is found guilty of grave misconduct or misdemeanor in accordance with existing University policies, rules, and regulations.
The scholarship is designed to support academically deserving students who are committed to pursuing priority education courses in Palawan. It ensures sustained financial assistance provided that scholars maintain the required academic performance, adhere to university rules, and remain enrolled in the specified programs.
