The Education Support Program of the Open Society Foundations is currently inviting applications for Education Grassroots Activism in Hungary. The program seeks to support grassroots-level Hungarian civil society active in the field of education and social inclusion in:
- Fulfilling its role in building open, equitable and cohesive societies;
- Fighting discrimination in education and promoting equal opportunities for all;
- Promoting the role of education in increasing well being and civic participation
- Playing a mediating role between vulnerable groups and the mainstream society;
- Mobilizing and uniting their communities around issues of education and social inclusion;
- Articulating and getting across key messages to the wider public and policy makers.
This fifth call for proposals seeks to provide support to projects and actions initiated by grassroots civil society organizations in Hungary, which aim to word towards community cohesion and a strengthened, more vocal grassroots civil society through the involvement of a wide range of education stakeholders.
The program will focus on deepening and further encouraging the cooperation between grassroots organizations with the aim of pooling their resources to jointly develop viable models of collaboration for the benefit of marginalized children and their communities.
Funding Information
- The budget under this call is USD 100,000. Individual application can be up to USD 15,000.
- One organization can present only one application, and can participate in up to two partnerships.
- The grant amount will be received in pre-financing, in one installment.
Eligibility Criteria
- Entities that cumulatively meet the following criteria:
- Formally registered grassroots organizations with a non-for-profit character and established legal status;
- Organizations carrying out work related to formal or non-former education, social inclusion or youth work;
- Organizations working at the community level and/or with volunteer support;
- Organizational partnerships are strongly encouraged, but not compulsory.
- Project Requirements
- Projects should be up to 12 months starting no earlier than October 1, 2016;
- Projects should address education equity challenges of vulnerable pupils of grassroots organizations, where possible also involving additional relevant stakeholders responsible for implementation of education programs;
- The proposed activities should include a clear implementation plan and should have a grassroots activism ethos.
