Deadline: 31-Oct-2025
The Brain Awareness Week is a global campaign dedicated to inspiring public interest and support for brain science, showcasing how advancements in neuroscience impact everyday life.
It provides an opportunity for communities around the world to engage with brain science through creative outreach, from school visits and advocacy group initiatives to public events aimed at policymakers and the media. The campaign serves as a powerful platform to promote understanding of neuroscience among people of all ages and backgrounds.
To support these efforts, Brain Awareness Week grants are available for projects that build public awareness and close gaps in knowledge about brain health, particularly in regions with limited resources and support. These grants encourage interdisciplinary initiatives that explore the relationship between neuroscience and society while fostering dialogue on the ethical, legal, and societal dimensions of brain research. The aim is to spark meaningful engagement while improving access to neuroscience education.
Grant-supported activities are expected to emphasize diversity, equity, and inclusion values in line with the ALBA Network’s guidelines, ensuring broad representation and accessibility. Applicants are also required to follow IBRO’s visibility guidelines to enhance their chances of receiving funding. Proposed events can be held in any country outside of Europe and must be scheduled for 2026, though they do not need to coincide with the official Brain Awareness Week dates as long as they align with the campaign’s goals.
Each selected project can receive up to 1,250 USD in funding. While the grants cover a range of event costs, they do not fund overhead expenses or pay for speaker salaries or honoraria. This funding presents an opportunity for educators, scientists, and community organizers to design innovative and inclusive events that bring neuroscience closer to the public, inspire curiosity, and support global brain health awareness.
