Deadline: 07-Nov-2025
The Schlumberger Foundation is gearing up to open applications for its distinguished Faculty for the Future fellowships, offering funding for PhD and post-doctoral research to women engineers and scientists from developing and emerging economies.
This initiative provides both financial support and entry into a thriving global network of female STEM leaders dedicated to driving change.
To be eligible, applicants must be women citizens of eligible low- or middle-income countries and be engaged in, or preparing for, doctoral or post-doctoral STEM research at an institution abroad. An outstanding academic record, a clear commitment to returning to one’s home country, and a history of leadership and outreach—especially in encouraging girls and women in STEM—are essential qualities for consideration.
The Faculty for the Future grants are based on actual expenses to be incurred by the student only. This typically includes university tuition and bench fees, accommodation costs and a living allowance covering food, books, supplies, medical insurance, child care, and transport. Additional funding is available for initial travel to the host country, visa charges, and conference participation. Grants can reach up to USD 50,000 per year for PhD candidates and a maximum of USD 40,000 per year for post-doctoral researchers.
Each application undergoes a rigorous, multi-stage selection process that evaluates academic excellence, recommendation quality, quality of the host institution, research relevance to the applicant’s home country, and potential for impact and leadership.
This fellowship offers more than funding; it opens doors to a supportive academic and professional community of Fellows from around the world. This cohort offers opportunities for collaboration, mentorship, and continued impact long after graduation—helping each Scholar become a powerful advocate and agent of sustainable development in her home country.
For eligible women aiming to pursue advanced research in STEM abroad, the Faculty for the Future fellowship represents more than a grant—it’s a life-changing passage into leadership, innovation, and global academic recognition.
