The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has announced a call for proposals for Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), media, including NGOs for small grants to conduct civic education awareness on constitutional making process in Eastern Equatoria, Central Equatoria and Upper Nile.
The UNDP Governance and Economic Management Support (GEMS) project of the Democratic Governance and Stabilization Unit (DGSU) aims to strengthen the capacity of civil society organizations and the media to develop and implement a civic education programme at national and state levels, conduct public consultation and dissemination of constitution related materials and popularize the constitution making process.
In this regard, the Program is seeking a competent and reputable civil society organization, media, national non-governmental organization, or community-based organization to conduct civic education programme at national and state levels on constitutional participation and making processes in Eastern Equatoria, Central Equatoria and Upper Nile, to provide:
- Civic education on constituional participation and making proces,
- Train journalist, editors, media house executive on ethical and objective reporting about constitutional making processes and conduct media monitoring to improve impartiality in media coverage of the constitutional making process,
- Sharing best practicies through the documentation and exchange of information on constitutional making process.
The main objective of the grant is to identify civil society organizations (CSOs), media, national non-governmental organizations (NNG0s) or community-based organizations (CB0s) per location to conduct civic education awareness on constitutional making process in the above-mentioned locations to provide:
- Civic education on constituional making proces,
- Train journalist, editors, media house executive on ethical and objective reporting about constitutional making proces and conduct media monitoring to improve impartiality in media coverage of the constitutional making process,
- Sharing best practicies through the documentation and exchange of information on constitutional making process.
Eligibility Criteria
The CSO/NNGO/CBO/Media must meet the following criteria to be eligible for selection:
- Be legally registered as CSO/NNGO/CBO with the Republic of South Sudan Relief and Rehabilitation Commission (RRC) valid registration certificate,
- Registered with South Sudan NGO Forum,
- Mandate and founding document should be in line with the activities for which the fund is being sought,
- Have an established office and experience in implementing similar/related activities.
- HACT micro-assessed.
