Deadline: 22-Sep-2025
The British Council is inviting applications from qualified UK further education colleges and training organizations for a new funding opportunity. The aim is to support international collaboration and contribute to a more inclusive, effective, and globally connected education system in Uganda. The British Council has been actively involved in Uganda’s education sector for decades, creating learning opportunities for thousands of stakeholders.
Successful applicants will be awarded up to £30,000 in grant funding to support partnership activities. The grant will fund reciprocal visits between the UK and Uganda, staff time (up to 30% of the grant), and the development of educational tools and resources. The project will run for 12 months starting in October 2025.
Eligible costs include travel and subsistence expenses, visa fees, vaccinations, and essential insurance. The grant covers travel for up to four staff members per visit. Local transport, reasonable accommodation, and hospitality costs are also permitted. Funding can be used for production costs related to educational materials, essential project equipment, training events, workshops, and digital delivery platforms.
Costs related to meetings, translation, publication, and presenting project outcomes at conferences (physical or virtual) are also allowed. All activities must be directly tied to the delivery of the approved project and must be well documented for monitoring and auditing by the British Council.
However, certain costs are not eligible. These include promotional activities for student recruitment, institutional overheads, purchase or rental of standard office or IT equipment, mobile phone bills, IP-related expenses, and infrastructure development. Costs related to entertainment or hospitality not directly linked to the project are also excluded. No profit or additional fees may be charged to the grant.
Each proposal must have a UK Lead institution, which can be a further education college, an independent training provider, a membership organization, sector skills organization, or an awarding body in the TVET or Further Education system.
Partnerships may include associated partners such as employer organizations, industry bodies, NGOs, government agencies, CSOs, and other not-for-profit public or private entities with roles in the education sector. For-profit non-education organizations are not eligible to receive funding, except for reimbursement of travel-related costs.
