UN Women invites applications from women’s studies/gender programmes or women’s/gender research centers, affiliated with a university in Türkiye, for the establishment of the Gender Equality Academy.
The United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women), grounded in the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, works for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls; the empowerment of women; and the achievement of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action and peace and security.
Funding Information
- The budget range for this proposal should be equivalent to minimum USD 100,000 and maximum USD 140,000.
Requirements
- The applicants must fulfill the following requirements:
- Be an academic higher education program or research center established and operating in Türkiye for at least 3 years and be affiliated with a higher education institution i.e. a public or private university, which has adopted a Gender Equality Plan addressing measures and targets to achieve gender equality in different areas (such as work-life balance, recruitment and promotion, research and education, governance and communication and prevention of sexual harassment and gender based violence at the institutional level).
- Offer teaching in gender/women’sstudies as a dedicated program or curricula as part of other academic courses.
- Ensure the presence of a team responsible with the implementation of the project (Gender Expert, Training Expert, Monitoring and Evaluation Expert at minimum)
- Possess the necessary IT/digital infrastructure and systems for hosting the online Gender Equality Academy.
- Previous experience in operating similar learning platforms (online or in person) in the fields of gender equality, women’s rights or women’s empowerment is an asset.
- Offering of a gender equality certificate programme or a plan for a sustainable certification programme will be an asset.
- Applicants may leverage their proposals through partnerships and engagement with other academic institutions, CSOs, private sector, etc. In that case, the applicants should clearly describe and define the purpose and nature of the planned partnerships and the specific roles of each partner organization.
Competencies
- Technical/functional competencies required
- Track record of teaching in the field of women’s human rights, gender equality, women’s empowerment.
- Proven institutional, technical and financial capacity and experience to establish, maintain and sustain a e-learning platform as stipulated in this terms of reference.
- Institutional and financial capacity to ensure the sustainability and effectiveness of the Gender Equality Academy Portal.
- Experience in engaging with multiple stakeholders, including but not limited to governmental and non-governmental organizations, private sector, academia, etc.
- The applicant’s capacity will be assessed by UN Women as per UN Women’s policies, rules and regulations.
- Other competencies, which while not required, can be an asset for the performance of services
- Existing learning/training/certification programmes on gender equality, women’s rights or women’s empowerment will be an asset.
- Previous experience in working with the UN will be an asset.
