Deadline: 01-Sep-2025
The Manitoba Arts Council is inviting applications for its Travel/Professional Development Grant Program. This grant supports individuals from all artistic disciplines in activities that contribute to the growth of their careers or artistic practices.
Applicants may receive up to $1,000 in funding. The grant covers direct costs related to the proposed activity. Eligible activities include workshops, specialized training, mentorships, public readings, and presentations.
Professional artists are eligible to apply. These are individuals who practice in disciplines such as craft, dance, literary arts, media arts, music, theatre, or visual arts. To qualify, applicants must meet at least three criteria such as peer recognition, specialized training, a strong commitment to their art, professional presentation or publication history, or compensation aligned with industry standards.
The program categorizes artists by career stage. Emerging artists are in the early stages of their careers with up to five years of activity and at least one professional presentation or publication. Mid-career artists have five to fifteen years of experience and at least three presentations or publications. Established artists have more than fifteen years of experience, at least five presentations or publications, and have received professional compensation.
Arts and cultural professionals may also apply. These include those whose work supports the arts, such as administrators, producers, editors, and technicians. Indigenous Knowledge Keepers are also eligible. These individuals preserve and pass on Indigenous worldviews, traditions, and cultural practices through art and creative expression.
Applications will be assessed by an internal MAC staff committee. Evaluation will be based on artistic merit, the potential impact of the proposed activity, and its overall feasibility.
