Deadline: 23-Jan-23
The Better Buildings is pleased to announce an open call for the Better Project & Better Practice Awards.
The Better Project and Better Practice awards recognize partners for innovative and industry leading accomplishments in implementing decarbonization, energy and water efficiency, or waste reduction projects/practices.
The Better Project award recognizes outstanding accomplishments at individual facilities, while the Better Practice award recognizes the implementation of practices and procedures more broadly.
Benefits
Winners will be highlighted:
- On Better Buildings social media channels, including Twitter and/or LinkedIn.
- On the Better Buildings Solution Center through the creation of showcase projects, implementation models, and solutions at a glance.
- Through other speaking opportunities and special promotion opportunities during the award year.
Successful applications will address
- Innovative ways to improve energy or water efficiency, waste reduction, or decreases in greenhouse gas emissions.
- Projects with significant savings and practices that can be replicated in other buildings or industrial facilities.
- How the partner overcame one or more barriers to decarbonization, energy or water efficiency, or waste reduction.
Eligibility Criteria
- Any active Better Buildings Initiative partner may apply.
- Awards are intended to recognize partner companies/organizations, not specific individuals.
- Applications should feature projects and activities that occurred or were finalized between 2021 and the present time. Content from previous applications should not be resubmitted.
- Applications can only be submitted for implemented projects/practices that occurred in U.S.- based buildings and plants.
- Partners may submit as many applications as they wish; however, no partner will be recognized with more than one award in each category.
Criteria
- Award winners will be selected using the following criteria and weighting:
- Magnitude (30%): What’s the impact on the organization and the scope of the effort (e.g., a system- wide vs. equipment-replacement approach)? How much energy, emissions, water, and/or waste savings are realized by the project?
- Replicability (30%): Is the project/practice easily replicable to other facilities? Have the results been shared broadly?
- Innovation (25%): How imaginative, creative, or novel is the practice?
- Additional Benefits (15%): What impact does the project/practice have on topics such as occupant health and wellness; workforce development; diversity, equity, and inclusion; community engagement; and other benefits to underserved communities?
- Applications should be well organized and clearly written. It is the responsibility of the applicant to articulate the ways the criteria are met. Efforts will be made to award a variety of types of projects/practices and partners.
