Do you want to meet like-minded curious young women and develop your personal and professional skills? Then join the 2022 Expedition of “Adventure of Science: Women and Glaciers in Central Asia”!
During this 10-days expedition, you will discover the Ala-Archa National Park in Kyrgyzstan and explore its beautiful glaciers and environment. You will be part of a diverse team of young women (18 – 25 years old) that come from across Central Asia and will spend these days in nature being trained in scientific methods, artistic observation, and mountaineering. You will discuss thematic topics connected to climate and environmental changes in the high mountains, and address them in groups by designing your own scientific project.
After the expedition, two public events will allow you to share your discoveries with scientists and professionals in related fields: a post-expedition event in Kyrgyzstan and an international online event. The program is designed to encourage critical thinking, curiosity, and expression of all sorts!
What do you need?
The expedition is free-of-charge, and all necessary equipment will be provided. You don’t need any previous mountaineering nor scientific knowledge; they only ask for your interest and motivation!
Dates of the Program?
They meet in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan on the 15.08.2022 and leave together for the Ala-Archa National Park. They return to Bishkek for the final days of the program which ends on the 25.08.2022.
Who Can Apply?
- The program is open for all young women of Central Asian countries: Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan between the ages of 18 to 25 years who are willing to learn and explore. The expedition will be held in a bilingual format Russian-English; therefore, you need sufficient English or Russian skills to communicate actively with all participants.
- They are looking for a diverse team with various perspectives, interests, and personalities. Therefore, they will not choose team members based solely on their individual applications but build the team as a whole, balancing insights, background, and energy.
