Tree Canada’s Community Tree Grants provide funding and technical support to help communities across Canada enhance greening, innovation, and environmental stewardship through tree and shrub planting.
These grants support both local planting initiatives and the development of urban forest best practices and innovative urban design solutions. Since 1992, Tree Canada has supported the greening of over 730 municipalities, Indigenous communities, and business improvement areas, helping to create healthier and more sustainable environments.
Grants of up to $10,000 are available to cover costs such as purchasing and planting trees and shrubs, site preparation, tree maintenance, planting materials, and the creation of educational resources.
Projects eligible for funding can include a wide variety of initiatives, such as heat island mitigation, biodiversity corridors, stormwater management, invasive species control, riparian planting, and park or street tree programs.
Funding is open to a broad range of applicants. Tree Canada supports greening projects wherever people live, work, learn, or play, including educational institutions like schools, colleges, and universities. Canadian municipalities, Indigenous communities, business improvement associations, non-profit organizations, and community groups are all eligible to apply for Treemendous Communities funding.
