Deadline: 08-Sep-2025
Applications are now open for the Clean Economy Grants Program, which supports organisations in testing and developing clean technologies and circular economy solutions that benefit the Geelong community.
The program aims to help the community move towards a circular economy by focusing on food waste, textiles, manufacturing, e-waste, household items, packaging, and soil remediation. It also supports efforts to reduce energy use and costs, improve soil and land management in agriculture, and lower greenhouse gas emissions in commercial and industrial sectors. Projects that aim for net zero emissions, reduce water usage, increase recycling, and develop sustainable building materials are also encouraged.
Applicants can request up to $25,000 in funding, with a total of $50,000 available for this grant round. Only one application is allowed per round, and all funded activities must be completed within 12 months of signing the agreement. Grants can be used for project costs such as prototyping, market research, or material testing that demonstrate clean technology or circular economy solutions.
To be eligible, applicants must be based in the City of Greater Geelong, owned in Geelong, or working with local suppliers. Eligible applicants include not-for-profit organisations, registered charities, higher education institutions, businesses, and sole traders with an active ABN. Being eligible does not guarantee funding.
Ineligible applicants include unincorporated groups with an auspice, schools, individuals without an ABN, and any entity with outstanding grant acquittals, unresolved funding issues, or legal and financial complications involving the City of Greater Geelong.
