Deadline: 22-Sep-2025
The Embassy of France to Australia has launched a new initiative titled “On the Road to the COP31: Pacific Knowledge and Knowledge of the Pacific.”
This funding opportunity is designed to support civil society organisations and researchers based in Australia who are working to enhance understanding and awareness of ocean conservation and climate resilience in the Pacific region, in the lead-up to the Third United Nations Ocean Conference.
Applicants are invited to propose projects that may take the form of workshops, community dialogues, research papers, policy briefs, or field-based learning activities. These projects should focus on key themes such as sustainable ocean governance, marine biodiversity, traditional ecological knowledge, and the impacts of climate change in Pacific Island contexts. The initiative particularly values projects that include engagement with territories like French Polynesia, New Caledonia, and Wallis & Futuna, ensuring that local and Indigenous perspectives are centred in the discussion.
Eligibility is open to members of civil society organisations and researchers of any nationality and at any level of seniority, provided they are working for an Australia-based organisation. This inclusive approach allows for a wide range of voices and disciplines to participate in shaping the regional and global dialogue on ocean health and climate resilience.
A total of AUD 44,000 has been allocated for this call. Projects must be realistic in scope and completed before July 1, 2026. The funding is intended to support initiatives that can contribute tangible outcomes to the broader goals of COP31 and the UN Ocean Conference.
This is a timely and important opportunity for organisations and researchers to contribute to global ocean governance while strengthening Pacific-centred approaches to sustainability, conservation, and climate action.
