Deadline: 26-Sep-2025
The Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund (CEPF), a global initiative supported by partners including the European Union, the Global Environment Facility, the World Bank, and the Governments of Canada and Japan, is calling for proposals from consultants to document best practices on gender-responsive conservation.
The initiative will focus on the Tropical Andes Biodiversity Hotspot, with particular emphasis on the empowerment of women in biodiversity management and sustainable use.
Since its establishment, CEPF has worked to strengthen the role of civil society in protecting the world’s most important biodiversity hotspots. In the Tropical Andes, grantees have implemented innovative strategies that place women at the center of conservation efforts, ensuring that they not only benefit from environmental programs but also lead and shape them. This consultancy will capture these strategies and produce a knowledge product that can be replicated both within the Andes and in other biodiversity hotspots worldwide.
The knowledge product will serve as a guide for civil society organizations and technical staff engaged in biodiversity conservation. It will include methods, activities, challenges, and lessons learned from CEPF-supported projects that have successfully advanced women’s leadership in conservation. The final product may take various forms, such as a manual, report, video, or other innovative format, and will be disseminated via the CEPF website as well as through social media, online toolkits, and presentations at international forums.
The consultant will be responsible for reviewing existing reports from CEPF grantees and other relevant organizations, conducting interviews, and facilitating a roundtable discussion in Peru during the Final Assessment of the Tropical Andes investment in late October 2025. This roundtable will bring together local partners, including indigenous and grassroots organizations, to share insights that will shape the content of the knowledge product.
The consultancy will run from 1 October to 30 November 2025, with an estimated 20 working days. Draft deliverables are due by 15 November, with final outputs to be submitted by the end of November. The work must be delivered in Spanish, ensuring accessibility for local stakeholders.
Through this initiative, CEPF seeks to create a practical and replicable resource that empowers conservation organizations to integrate gender equality more effectively, amplify women’s voices in biodiversity management, and strengthen global efforts toward inclusive and sustainable conservation.
