Deadline: 08-Oct-2025
The City of Toronto is inviting Indigenous‑led individuals, collectives, and non‑profits to apply for the Indigenous Climate Action Grants, which offer funding of up to $20,000 for projects that reduce emissions and uplift Indigenous communities across Toronto.
Projects should be grounded in Indigenous leadership or partnership, and must directly benefit Toronto’s Urban Indigenous population while aligning with the city’s Net Zero Strategy and Reconciliation Action Plan.
Projects must be based in Toronto, conclude by the end of the following year, and meet criteria around leadership, community engagement, and project clarity.
Funded activities may include knowledge‑sharing, renewable energy initiatives, biodiversity and ecological restoration, waste reduction, water preservation, climate justice art, or land‑based Indigenous teachings and cultural projects. Budget support covers tools and equipment, honoraria, translation, travel, community event costs, and other essential expenses, while ineligible uses include fundraisers for others, religious or political activities, construction or major capital works.
This grant opportunity is part of Toronto’s effort to support Indigenous climate leadership, heal connections to land, promote cultural traditions, and foster resilient, equitable neighbourhoods through locally driven climate action.
