The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Vietnam is seeking applications from qualified Vietnamese firm/institute/organization for engaging the private sector in Viet Nam in resilience building against compounding risks.
The institution is expected to provide effective support to UNDP in implementing the work-packages under the disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation and will engage the private sector in Viet Nam in resilience building against compounding risks.
In Viet Nam, UNDP will continue its strategic work by engaging national partners, businesses and enterprises in resilience building. The approach will centre on integrating risks in regular socio-economic aspects ensuring that cascading risks and subsequent risk reduction measures are taken into consideration.
This work is financially supported through Connecting Business Initiative (CBi)8 and UNDP’s Coastal Resilience Project.
Scope of Work
- Compile a Business Continuity Planning Guideline for businesses and conduct pilot training courses;
- Coordinate the work-packages between agencies and between Hanoi, Da Nang and Can Tho; conduct and prepare for meetings with partners and media agencies in Viet Nam and with the CBi secretariat and relevant CBi member networks;
- Advocate to expand business networks in the country; coordinate learning exchanges on good practices from CBi member networks on disaster risk reduction, climate change and epidemics;
- Research and support the establishment of business network to respond to climate change, disaster risk and epidemics in the Central region;
- Organise workshop promoting the participation of the private sector in the implementation of the National Climate Change Adaptation Plan;
- Conduct communication activities on the role of the private sector in response to climate change, disaster risk and epidemics;
- Organise a workshop discussing solutions to adapt to the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic for businesses in the Mekong Delta;
- Organise a training course Improve capacity to adapt to climate change and proactively prevent disaster for SMEs in the Mekong Delta in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic;
- Develop a Research report on agricultural transformation to adapt to climate change in the Mekong Delta.
Location: The institution undertakes all activities and tasks at its office in Hanoi and does not need to work at UNDP office.
Criteria
- Qualification requirements of the institution:
- Proven experience of delivery of good quality services for international development projects, especially targeting business communities, associations, chambers of commerces, companies in Viet Nam, with preference to those related to compounding risks in Viet Nam; reputation of Organization;
- Expertise of similar assignments relating to resilience building for MSMEs using integrated risk management approach (natural hazards, climate change, epidemic); General Organizational Capability;
- Demonstrated experience and expertise of engaging with national institutions, ministries, DRR Partnership, Central Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control, high-profile international business entities at national level, as well as in Mekong Delta and central regions of the country;
- Demonstrated experience in developing national legislation, guidelines, methodologies for businesses in Viet Nam.
- Qualification of the national team leader:
- Master’s degree in the fields of Business Management, Economics, or related field (with preference to the field directly linked to this TOR);
- Experience in policy-level dialogues in Viet Nam, with preferences in working directly with natural hazards, climate change, epidemics in Viet Nam;
- Understanding of existing social protection policies, policy gaps for MSMEs and business communities, especially in context of compounding risks;
- Show evidences for organizing policy-level seminars, and ability to engage Government officials into such events, and ability to communicate fluently in English.
