Vinnova is inviting applications for the Project Entitled” Adapting the transport infrastructure to meet climate change” to support the climate adaptation of the transport infrastructure.
The aim is to cope with the negative consequences that a changing climate brings. Projects that are applied for must contribute to solutions to adapt existing or planned transport infrastructure to the climate in a sustainable way. The goal of the call is to support innovation projects with high potential that are also scalable and that can be implemented in the near future.
The offer is aimed at organizations seeking grants to develop products, services, processes, working methods and business and procurement models in accordance with the direction of the call. The projects may also include how regulations and policy may change. The project applications can deal with all areas that develop the transport infrastructure's climate adaptation, for example planning, construction, materials, methods, management and maintenance. The project must be carried out in collaboration between different actors, and the need owner must be involved to increase the possibility that solutions that are developed reach all the way to implementation.
Funding Information
- The call's budget is SEK 15 million for the period 2023-2026 with an offer to finance up to 50 percent of an innovation project's eligible costs. Small innovation projects with a maximum of SEK 1 million in grants must have at least two parties and a project duration of a maximum of 12 months.
- Large innovation projects with contributions higher than SEK 1 million must have at least three parties and a project duration of a maximum of 36 months.

Activities for which funding can be applied for
- Projects applying for grants must be about an innovation, i.e. an imagined solution that is new or significantly better than what is already on the market.
- The innovation projects must be about solutions, in line with InfraSweden's objectives, which are scalable and can be implemented in the near future, no more than 5 years after the end of the project. Innovation projects can also be about developing procurement forms or business models that provide incentives for development and implementation in line with the objectives of the call.
Eligibility Criteria

The offer is aimed at project constellations such as
- Has the ability and capacity to quickly and resource-efficiently develop and test innovative solutions (products, services, processes, working methods and business and procurement models) within the call's priorities
- Has ambition and a clear plan to test their solution with the project's need owner
- For an organization to be counted as a project party, it must be a legal person, participate in the design and implementation of the project, and be involved in sharing risks and results. At least one project party must be a requirement owner, i.e. an actor who benefits from the solution and who can take care of (manage, use, disseminate) the results of the project.
- The coordinator must be a Swedish organization, but international parties are welcome to participate in the proposed project. However, grants are only granted to Swedish organizations, which also includes foreign organizations that have a branch or place of business in Sweden. In that case, the costs of the project must be attributable to the operations of the branch or establishment.
