Deadline: 01-Oct-2025
The International Visegrad Fund has opened applications for its Strategic Grants program, which supports ambitious, long-term projects designed to strengthen cooperation across the Visegrad countries—Czechia, Hungary, Poland, and Slovakia.
These grants are intended for initiatives with lasting impact that address the Fund’s annual strategic priorities, while involving strong partnerships across the region.
Strategic Grants provide funding for projects that run between twelve and thirty-six months, with awards generally ranging from €35,000 to €45,000. Grants can cover up to the full project budget, including operational overheads of up to 15 percent.
For 2025, the Fund has identified three strategic priorities. The first focuses on promoting volunteering in the V4 region, including efforts to intensify cross-border volunteering and to improve conditions for both volunteers and the institutions that host them. The second priority emphasizes promoting shared values by strengthening civil society relations, particularly in the context of the Fund’s 25th anniversary, and by supporting projects that highlight cultural and historical connections. The third priority addresses the urgent issue of water management and flood protection, with projects expected to foster regional collaboration on disaster preparedness and climate resilience.
Eligibility is open to consortia of organizations, with at least two based in different Visegrad countries depending on the grant scheme. A wide range of applicants are welcome, including non-governmental organizations, civil society groups, municipalities, local governments, schools, universities, research institutions, and other public bodies. Companies, particularly those linked to innovation and startups, may also participate if their projects are strictly non-profit in nature.
Certain applicants are not eligible. These include ministries, government agencies, embassies, state-funded cultural institutes, state-owned companies, private entrepreneurs, and individual citizens. The focus remains on collaborative, institutional partnerships that are capable of delivering meaningful, cross-border impact.
The Strategic Grants program offers a unique chance to bring together expertise, creativity, and commitment to address shared challenges in Central Europe. By focusing on volunteering, cultural values, and climate resilience, the Fund is investing in initiatives that both strengthen regional cooperation and create tangible improvements for communities across the Visegrad region.
