Deadline: 12-Oct-2025
The Principality Building Society Retrofit for the Future Fund is offering a meaningful opportunity to help nonprofits make their spaces greener, more accessible, and more energy-efficient.
Delivered in partnership with Community Foundation Wales, the fund supports community buildings in need of retrofitting, such as solar panels, heat pumps, insulation, efficient lighting, or battery storage, with the aim of reducing environmental impact while uplifting local spaces.
Organizations serving underserved or vulnerable groups are especially encouraged to apply. Projects that support individuals from protected characteristic backgrounds or those living in deprived communities are viewed as high priority, as the fund seeks to ensure equity in access to improved community infrastructure. Applicants must show that their chosen buildings are suitable for upgrades and likely to yield energy savings—evidenced through an independent energy efficiency survey.
Grants of up to £25,000 are available for one-year projects, enabling organizations to plan and implement meaningful retrofits with measurable impact. To be eligible, applicants must be registered nonprofits or similar social-purpose entities with annual income under £500,000—although exceptions may be considered in exceptional cases.
This opportunity is open to constituted groups, registered charities, Charitable Incorporated Organizations, Companies Limited by Guarantee, Community Interest Companies, social enterprises, and voluntary community groups across Wales—and potentially in border areas like Chester or Hereford, after consultation.
Organizations considering applying are encouraged to reach out for a conversation before submitting their applications. Funding decisions will be announced early, with promotion of awardees slated for January 2026, providing recipients with recognition alongside support for their local environmental efforts.
