The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) together with the Civil Society Organisation (CSO) is seeking applications from Non-Governmental Organizations to support the delivery of Component 1: Scaled up adoption and access to clean and affordable energy in the Scaling NDC Actions- Japan Supplementary Budget project.
Objectives
- The objective of the partnership is to accelerate the delivery of the Scaling NDC Actions Project in Lilongwe and Zomba through the following:
- Developing and delivering a package of interventions on renewable energy to provide cooking alternatives for households (from 600 to 1,000) in Lilongwe and Zomba Cities
- Develop and implement a communications strategy to address the underlying drivers of access and utilization of renewable energy options in the two cities
- Foster partnerships to promote service delivery of renewable energy options (such as Liquid Petroleum Gas, Briquettes, Pellets, and Sustainable charcoal) in selected locations within the city s
Scope of Partnership
- The partnership will support the implementation of the following components:
- Renewable energy services
- Com m unication and awareness-raising
Criteria
- Requirements for partner CSO
- Track record in Natural Resource Management and Community-based Renewable Energy Technologies and knowledge of household high energy efficiency products such as noncarbonated and charcoal briquettes, LPG and home cook stoves
- Existing adequate technical capacity, including staffing, for implementation and oversight of the project
- Existing organizational structures in the Cities of Lilongwe and Zomba, and community based structures in NRM or Renewable energy (A CSO can submit a proposal for both cities with well differentiated interventions for each city or submit a proposal for one city only)
- Demonstrate ability to engage in high quality communication of results and monitoring of project interventions, including linkage towards results of the main project
- Current eligibility for UNDP (or UN) Funds transfer with “low risk risking” and certified capacity for delivery of micro grant through Partner Capacity Assessment
- Experience with the management of development partner funding, with up-to-date records wi thin at least three years.
