The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) kindly request you to submit your Proposal for Ending Plastic Pollution Innovation Challenge (EPPIC) to develop a guideline for estimation of plastic leakage from the land to the sea, piloted in Binh Dinh province.
The overall objective of this assignment is to develop a guideline for estimation of plastic leakage from the land to the sea and provide an overall estimation of plastic leakage from the land to the sea in the country.
The project Ending Plastic Pollution Innovation Challenge (EPPIC) seeks to reduce plastic pollution in coastal areas in Viet Nam and Thailand in 2020, followed by Indonesia and the Philippines in 2021, contributing to the achievement of SDG 14 (Life Below Water) and SDG 12 (Responsible Production and Consumption). EPPIC will bring together citizens, local governments, and the private sector to collaborate in establishing effective and innovative solutions. The EPPIC competition is also the opportunity to drive change by raising awareness, collecting lessons learned and trying new approaches to address localized plastic issues. It intends to deliver two outcomes:
- A portfolio of solutions is selected, supported, and scaled-up through the EPPIC in four countries (Viet Nam, Thailand, Indonesia, and the Philippines).
- Capacity building in Viet Nam and knowledge, cooperation, networking in ASEAN countries for prevention and reduction of plastic waste is increased.
Activities
The contractor is expected to undertake the following activities:
- Develop a guideline for estimation of plastic leakage from the land to the sea
- Survey in Binh Dinh province
- Estimation of plastic leakage at national level and finalize the guideline
Duration: The contractor is expected to provide the specified services from January 2022 to August 2022. All cost related to the implementation of tasks in Hanoi and Binh Dinh should be considered in the financial proposal submitted.
Duty station: Hanoi and Binh Dinh province.
Eligibility Criteria
Qualifications and experience of the Firm are as follows:
- Experience working in environmental science or a related field with proven working background on topics related to pollution, marine litter, plastics, and waste In-depth knowledge of pollution, marine litter, plastics, and waste in Viet Nam;
- Working experience and coordination with national governments and non-governmental organization
- Having 03 contracts / assignment related to SWM and marine plastic litter assessment
- Experience in conducting marine litter surveys / monitoring in marine litter in the marine environment decision support in the most 03 recent years
- Good methodology and sound implementation plan
- Good team composition and qualified members
