The Ministry of Education, Department of School Education & Literacy, Government of India in collaboration with MyGov, invites citizens to participate in an Essay Writing Contest on the theme Revisiting the Emergency After 50 Years, commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Emergency declared in India in 1975.
This essay contest provides an opportunity to revisit that crucial chapter in Indias history and reflect on its lessons for contemporary society. Participants are encouraged to explore how the Emergency impacted democratic institutions, citizen rights, and the constitutional frameworkand how its memory continues to influence public discourse today.
Benefits
- Certificate of Appreciation will be awarded to the selected winners by the Ministry of Education.
- Selected narratives may be featured on official digital platforms as a part of a collective memory archive to engage the public with Indias democratic heritage.
Eligibility Criteria
- The contest is open to school students in India, as well as students of schools affiliated with Indian boards (CBSE/ICSE/State Boards, etc.)
- Contestants will be evaluated in the following groups: Classes 68, 910, and 1112.
Application Requirements
- The essay should be between 1500 and 2500 words in length.
- Participants must ensure that their MyGov profile is complete with details of DOB, State, etc., as it will be used for all official communication.
