The Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation has launched the Competition for co-financing projects promoting science and innovation.
The subject of the Competition is co-financing projects that will be implemented within the 13th edition of the Festival of Science and Innovation 2025, with the aim of promoting science, innovation and research through interactive and educational content intended for various target groups.
The festival aims to bring science and innovation closer to the general public, especially young people, and to affirm the importance of research and innovation work for the social and economic development of Montenegro.
This competition aims to enable the community to learn about the ubiquity of science in an accessible and inspiring way, and to highlight how interesting, stimulating and inspiring science can be. Through the promotion of scientific achievements and contemporary trends in various disciplines, it seeks to awaken interest in science and technology and encourage the acquisition of new knowledge.
Objectives
- The objectives of the Competition are:
- Encouraging young people’s interest in science and innovation;
- Popularization of scientific research and innovation activities among the wider public;
- Presenting the achievements of Montenegrin scientists, innovators and researchers
Segments
- The competition includes three program segments:
- Innovations and technologies for the future
- Presentation of modern innovations and technological solutions through the EXPO exhibition.
- This segment of the festival focuses on presenting innovation as a key tool for shaping modern society and the future economy. The goal is to show, through practical demonstrations, interactive content and open dialogue with the audience, how innovation can improve business, contribute to solving social challenges and open up space for new knowledge, skills and professions.
- The goal of this segment is to present to festival visitors, through visually attractive and interactive displays, the role of innovation in shaping modern society, developing new technologies and creating a sustainable future. Through direct contact with the audience at the stands, a clear and inspiring presentation of innovations that improve everyday life, business, education and solving contemporary social challenges will be enabled.
- Science as a driver of innovation
- Visual and educational presentation of scientific research that has innovation potential.
- This segment of the festival focuses on the role of scientific research as the foundation of the innovation process. Science is not only a source of knowledge, but also a key foundation for solving contemporary challenges and creating new solutions that change the economy and society.
- The Ministry invites licensed scientific research institutions and other legal entities engaged in science and education to apply for participation in the festival segment entitled “Science as a Driver of Innovation”, which will be realized within the EXPO setting of the Festival of Science and Innovation 2025, through presentations at specially arranged stands. ecosystem; creating a bridge between discoveries and their use.
- The goal of this segment is to present to the general public, and especially to young people, in a visually attractive and accessible way how scientific research and knowledge represent the basis for the development of innovative solutions, products, technologies and approaches that change society, the economy and everyday life.
- Open Laboratory Doors: “Touch Science”
- Organization of guided visits to laboratories and research centers.
- The Ministry invites licensed scientific research institutions and other entities that have laboratory capacities and educational resources to apply for participation in the “Open Doors of Laboratories: Touch Science” segment, which will be implemented as part of the 2025 Science and Innovation Festival.
- This segment aims to provide the public, and especially the younger generation, with a direct insight into the functioning of Montenegro’s research infrastructure, through the organization of visits to laboratories and research centers. Through interaction with scientists and researchers, demonstration of experiments, and introduction to modern equipment and methodologies, participants will have the opportunity to “touch” science – in its authentic, working environment.

Funding Information
- Total planned funds for the implementation of the Competition: € 50,000.00.
- Innovations and technologies for the future: Maximum amount of support per project: €2,500.00
- Science as a driver of innovation: Maximum amount of support per project: €2,500.00
- Open Laboratory Doors: “Touch Science”: Maximum amount of support per project: €1,000.00
Criteria
- Criteria for project selection
- Formal fulfillment of the conditions for participation in the Competition (administrative check) will be carried out by Ministry, for all segments of the Competition. After administrative verification, all project Applications that have met the required requirements will be sent for evaluation.
- The Ministry will, by a special Decision, form Commissions for the evaluation of project applications, for each segment separately, which will prepare reports on the evaluation of each individual application. Project applications, which will be delivered to applicants along with appropriate solutions on rejection/acceptance of an application for (co)financing.
- Applications are evaluated by a committee of three evaluators, independently and individually.
