The Kosovo Civil Society Foundation in partnership with Community Building Mitrovica (CBM) is inviting all civil society organizations to apply to the fourth edition of the School for Activism, an educational program created within the Civil Society Resource Center to strengthen and increase the impact of civil society organizations (CSOs) in the country.
The School for Activism (School) is a space for professional education, increasing the competence of CSOs, and strengthening the organization for more systematic engagement, aiming for the greatest possible involvement of citizens, and influencing policy-making processes through participatory advocacy.
The school is offered annually to 20 selected CSOs and includes 6 training modules, each lasting two days. These modules are assessed as essential topics and knowledge for the development of organizations and increasing their impact through the work they do.
CSOs that successfully complete the School will have the opportunity to benefit from mentoring from experts in various fields, with the aim of further professional development and support in the implementation of their organization’s long-term strategies and objectives. They will also be included in thematic and sectoral networks of civil society organizations, which will be organized and supported by KCSF, enabling cooperation and exchange of experiences between different civil society actors in Kosovo.
Areas of Focus
- The School’s program provides specialized support for the development of civil society organizations, helping to strengthen their capacities in key areas. The fourth edition’s program is structured in six modules, each with an in-depth focus on:
- Internal Governance for CSOs
- Gender mainstreaming
- Impact Assessment and Fundraising
- Diversifying financial resources
- Participatory Advocacy
- Community Mobilization Techniques
Benefits
- With the participation of CSOs in the School, each participating CSO will be able:
- To better understand the organization, internal governance of the organization;
- To draft a clear strategy or activity plan to achieve the organization’s goals;
- Include gender mainstreaming within internal activities and with parties outside the organization;
- Create better strategies for fundraising, planning and project implementation;
- Participate in decision-making processes, at local and central levels, with better knowledge of participatory advocacy methods;
- To better understand and be more competent in applying community mobilization techniques.
- During their participation in the School, and after the completion of the School, participants will have the opportunity to benefit from:
- Continuous mentoring and advice from experts to address and advance specific issues of the organization;
- Networking and cooperation with other civil society organizations for joint engagement in advocacy initiatives, addressing community needs, etc.
Costs Covered
- All training and mentoring is provided free of charge to selected organizations. Travel expenses will also be reimbursed for participants from outside Pristina.
Eligibility Criteria
- All civil society organizations registered or operating in Kosovo are eligible to apply.
- Each CSO must propose 2 to 6 staff members based on their responsibilities within the organization to participate in the School modules.
Selection Criteria
- It is a Civil Society Organization, registered in Kosovo;
- Its goal and interest is the involvement of citizens in the work of the organization;
- The application is completely complete, and provides complete answers to all questions;
- The organization has proposed a team of 2 to 6 staff members engaged in relevant fields;
- Participation in the School is linked to the strategic objectives of the organization and contributes to their realization;
- The organization clearly demonstrates how involvement in the program will contribute to the organization’s commitment to community involvement in its mission;
- The organization demonstrates a willingness to develop capacities, based on identified needs.
