The Professional Fellows Program (PFP) is a two-way, global exchange program designed to promote mutual understanding, enhance leadership and professional skills, as well as build lasting, sustainable partnerships between mid-level emerging leaders from foreign countries and the United States.

Program Goal
- Funded by the US Department of State, the Professional Fellows Program (PFP) supports small and medium business development, governmental economic development policy, and economic opportunities for women, youth, minorities, and marginalized populations through a two-way exchange program on the theme of Economic Empowerment for professionals from Algeria, Egypt, Morocco, Tunisia, and the United States.
Program Details
- With funding from the U.S. Department of State, CRDF Global will conduct a two-way exchange Professional Fellowship Program (PFP) on the theme of Economic Empowerment for professionals from Algeria, Egypt, Morocco, and Tunisia. The first part of the two-way PFP exchange, the U.S.- based Program will be implemented in the following three phases over the course of five weeks in the United States:
- Phase I: Fellows from Algeria, Egypt, Morocco, and Tunisia will participate in a three-day group orientation/program opening in Detroit, Michigan.
- Phase II: Each fellow will engage in a four-week individually tailored fellowship placement with organizations in one of five cities: Detroit, Michigan; Burlington, Vermont; San Antonio, Texas; San Diego, California; or Seattle, Washington.
- Phase III: The U.S.-based program will conclude in Washington, D.C. with participation in the Professional Fellows Congress, a three-day capstone event of the Professional Fellows Program.
Program Dates
- Fellowship Cohort 1: 1 October – 5 November 2022
- Fellowship Cohort 2: 6 May – 10 June 2023
Target Audience: Small-to-medium business developers interested in governmental economic development policies and economic opportunities, social entrepreneurship; business administration; business education, community training programs; non-governmental organizations; or government.
Eligibility Criteria
- Ages 25-40 at time of program
- Currently employed
- At least two years of professional experience at the time of application;
- Have a track record of making an impact in their community, organization, or company;
- Be proficient in spoken and written English at the time of application;
- Be a citizen of, and currently residing in, one of the eligible countries for participation in the program.
- Algeria, Egypt, Morocco, Tunisia.
