Akina Mama wa Afrika through her flagship programme the African Women’s Leadership Institute with support from UN Women Uganda, has created this space for you and other like-minded young women to learn, unlearn, relearn and collectively envision a feminist future in a one-year Feminist and Transformational Leadership fellowship.

- An introduction to Women’s Rights
- The Charter of Feminist Principles for African Feminists

- Organizing Skills and Taking Action
- Feminist advocacy and Movement Building
- Support Networks
- Personal and Collective Action Plans
- Cross cutting moments: Journaling, Yoga, Dance Movement therapy, etc
Eligibility Criteria
- The program will be awarded to 25 young Ugandan women between the ages of 25-35 years who demonstrate active engagement in civic processes, or a track record of leadership in institutions of higher learning and have stood for or interested in elective office.
- They encourage applications from ALL backgrounds in terms of ethnicity, sexual orientation, disability, origin, and religion.
Application Requirements
Applicants needs to send the completed application form, together with the following:
- A one-page statement summarizing your goals and aspirations as a leader.
- An 800-1200 word article on the Role of Feminist Transformational Leadership in Enhancing Women’s Participation in Leadership.
- A copy of your Curriculum Vitae/Resume.
- One passport size photograph.
Any applications received after this date will not be considered. Successful participants will be notified at least one week prior to the training program. They particularly encourage applications from women from diverse backgrounds (in terms of ethnicity, sexual orientation, disability, origin, religion, etc).
Technical Requirements
This first phase of the training will be offered digitally (via your computer, tablet or smartphone) from 27th July- 4th September 2020. You will need a device that allows you to watch videos and has the ability to upload assignments. You will also need a way to join video calls with sound, such as a webcam or smartphone.
