Protected Areas Conservation Trust (PACT) is seeking applications for its Environmental Fellowship Award 2017 which is designed to provide financial assistance to dynamic and successful mid-career and/or senior professional Belizeans who are entering a graduate, post-graduate or professional development programme in an area of study that will contribute to the sustainable development of Belize’s National Protected Areas System (NPAS).
The award may cover costs associated with tuition, registration, books, room and board, administrative fees, original research, final project or a scholarly work that can be published. Upon completion of the program, awardees are required to serve in Belize in a professional capacity that benefits the NPAS for a minimum of two years.

The PACT will award one Environmental Fellowship, valued at BZ$50,000, during its 2017/2018 operational year.
How to Apply
- Interested applicants should submit the following by the deadline date below:
- Completed and signed Application Form;
- Proof of Belizean Citizenship (passport, birth certificate, certificate of naturalization);
- One official academic transcript from each of the last two institutions of study;
- Acceptance letter, copy of program outline and fee schedule from Institution;
- Essay outlining applicant’s financial need, academic potential, reason for undertaking the program, linkage between the program of study and their work, what applicants hope to achieve at the end of their program course and the future of natural resource management in Belize;
- A two-page synopsis outlining applicant’s research interest or a proposal for the development of a new product (concept paper, proposals, publication, manual) of importance to the NPAS, capacity gaps to be filled, expected research site, stakeholder engagement, and financial requirements (identifying all counterpart funding or in-kind contribution);
- Letter/s of commitment from co-financiers where applicable;
- Two reference letters (1 from recent lecturer in relevant subject and 1 from current or immediate past employer);
- Applicant’s completed TD4-income tax form;
- Curriculum Vitae;
- 1 passport size photograph.
