Applications are open for Center for Global Health Fellowship Program to provide recent college graduates who are planning to apply to graduate or professional (public heath /research/ medical/ dental/nursing/pharmacy) school or have a medical degree an opportunity to spend one or two years (not to exceed two years) performing fulltime work in the global cancer field at U.S. National Cancer Institute (NCI).
Fellows work with NCI staff to develop and implement projects that support strengthening of cancer research and cancer control globally. The NCI Center for Global Health is particularly interested in applicants who have either volunteered or worked in a low- or middle-income country or with disadvantaged populations in high-income countries.
This is a one-year, full-time, paid fellowship. A second year may be possible, but is not guaranteed. The position is located at the NCI Shady Grove campus in Rockville, Maryland. Relocation assistance is not available and relocation costs will not be reimbursed.
Eligibility Criteria
- The fellowship is open to applicants with a 1) Bachelor’s degree; 2) Master’s degree or equivalent awarded in the U.S. or abroad or 3) Doctor of Medicine (MD) or equivalent awarded in the U.S. or abroad. Applicants who have not yet graduated may apply, but will need to have received their degree by the time the fellowship begins.
- The fellowship is open to U.S. citizens and permanent residents only.
How to Apply
- Applications must include the following (submission details for each component outlined below):
- Completed application form
- Cover letter outlining applicant’s global health interests, career goals, and reasons for applying for the CGH fellowship (500-word limit)
- Transcript(s) from all attended colleges and universities
- 2 signed letters of recommendation in PDF format (institution letterhead preferred). It is highly recommended that at least one letter is from a professional in the global health field who can speak to applicant’s interests and work in this area.
- Resume or curriculum vitae (3-page limit)
- Applications must be submitted via email with “Center for Global Health (CGH) Fellowship Program” as the subject line.
