The European Union (EU)-United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) are announcing a scholarship to study Technical Vocational Education and Training programme (TVET) and Short-term courses on basic professions in the framework of the “Enhancing the capacities of Surkhandarya region to educate and train Afghan citizens” Project.
TVET or Technical and Vocational Education and Training, is an umbrella term that encompasses education and training activities. If you want to develop skills in a shorter period of time than through an academic degree, then TVET should be your choice. TVET stands for acquiring skills in such areas as construction, agribusiness, textile, nursing, tourism and IT.
Where will I study?
- You will study at the Educational Center for Training Afghan citizens (ECTAC) in Termez, which has the technical capacity and human resources with a solid experience in this area.
- The ECTAC has well-established connections with the wide range of universities, institutions, and colleges in Uzbekistan.
- After the completion of vocational education and training programmes, the ECTAС grants certificate and diploma recognized both in Uzbekistan and Afghanistan.
What is the duration of the scholarship?
- April – December 2022: TVET programme (Language of study: Uzbek, Russian or English). One term is theory based; the second term involves practical work experience.
What does the scholarship cover?
- The scholarship covers:
- Tuition fees
- Accommodation
- Monthly stipends (for the scholarship recipient only)
- Medical insurance
- The rest of the expenditures associated with possible dependents, including children, are NOT covered by the scholarship.
Eligibility Criteria
- The Afghan citizens, especially youth and women currently residing in Uzbekistan may apply for the scholarship.
- Afghan citizens aged 18 to 27 (as of April 15, 2022) currently residing in the Republic of Uzbekistan and have valid visas.
- Have a 12-year high school graduation certificate.
- Afghan citizens who have not studied or lived outside of Afghanistan during the last 5 years.
- Understand Uzbek, Russian or English language, as the training will be conducted in one of these languages;
- Female candidates, as well as applicants from rural areas and people with disabilities, are strongly encouraged to apply.
