Deadline: Ongoing Opportunity
Applications are now open for 20 First Nations advocates working on law and justice campaigns – including family members whose loved ones have died in custody, grassroots activists, organisers and journalists – to join a unique Fellowship program, designed for, and led by, First Nations people.
Fellowship Goals and Outcomes
- The First Nations Law and Justice Messaging Fellowship will equip participants with the skills to develop new and effective strength-based communications approaches on First Nations law and justice issues.
- The Fellowship will be delivered as part of the broader Passing the Message Stick message research project into law and justice, designed to develop persuasive messages that shift public narratives and build support for First Nations justice.
- Fellows will contribute to the language analysis, elicitation interviews and message rollout — learning practical and immediately applicable messaging skills and knowledge, and at the same time contributing to a live message research project.
- The initial findings of the law and justice message research project will be launched at Common Threads, a First Nations-only Summit bringing together activists in Brisbane on 30-31 March 2023.
