The Asian Cultural Council (ACC) is now accepting applications for the New York Fellowship Program to provide full funding and comprehensive logistical and programmatic support so that fellows have the time and freedom to immerse themselves in the cultural life of New York City.
Fellows may seek new creative inspiration through open-ended exploration, participate in workshops or training programs, or conduct focused research.
A group of fellows participate in the program at any given time, forming a supportive community and providing additional opportunities for dialogue and collaboration across countries and fields.

*for design, aesthetic theory, and/or aesthetic history only; projects with an economic, social, scientific, or technological focus are not eligible
**for travel to/from Japan only
Eligibility Criteria
- Applications for this program are currently only accepted for applicants who are citizens or residing in Japan.

Applicants may apply with a focused research project, but open-ended exploration is also allowed and encouraged. Examples of common activities include:
- Observing contemporary trends in an art practice or best practices in a professional field
- Exploring across fields or disciplines
- Seeking creative inspiration by attending performances, exhibitions, or other cultural events
- Participating in specialized workshops or training
- Meeting peers to exchange knowledge and ideas
- Traveling to other parts of the U.S.

To be selected for the program, applicants must:
- Show artistic, scholarly, or professional excellence and potential for continued growth
- Be positioned to share their fellowship experience or its outcomes to influence a larger community or field
- Be independent, resourceful, curious, open-minded, and eager to explore outside the boundaries of their training
- Demonstrate compelling need for this opportunity at this specific time in their life and career
- Speak enough English to participate in conversation and form relationship

Once selected, fellows are expected to:
- Commit to the program schedule after a start date has been set and minimize outside commitments during the program
- Take the initiative to pursue interests and follow up on staff recommendations
