Are you passionate about environmental conservation, community empowerment, and indigenous knowledge? The GEF Small Grants Office (SGP) Fiji office invites nominations for the OP7 SGP Indigenous Peoples Fellowship Initiative Program.
The Small Grants Programme (SGP) is a corporate programme of the Global Environment Facility (GEF) implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to promote community-based innovation, capacity development, and empowerment through projects led by local civil society and community-based organizations, with special consideration for Indigenous Peoples, women, youth and persons with disabilities.
Objectives
- The programme will host one fellow in the SGP Fiji office where the successful nominee will work alongside the SGP and Youth focal points in UNDP regional hubs in Asia-Pacific. SGP Fiji office has been selected to host this 18-month long programme for the Pacific.
Funding Information
- Grant allocation for this initiative is US$ 75,000, and 18 month project (fellowship) duration.
Who can apply?
- Any local CSOS, NGOs and or community-based groups that have interests in conserving and restoring the environment while enhancing people’s livelihoods and wellbeing.
- The following is some information to guide those that are interested:
- Focal area for fellowship in either Biodiversity Conservation or Climate Change.
- Priority given to indigenous youth below the age of 35 years; grounded and accountable to a specific community and have contributed to efforts to support indigenous ways of life.
- Advantage to those organization’s already advocating on Indigenous communities’ natural resources management, building indigenous communities ‘capacities in sustainable development, environment protection and or climate change.
