Established in 2023, the SCI Sustainability Award celebrates individuals or teams whose innovative work in the chemical and related sciences contributes significantly to enhancing environmental sustainability. The award is open to participants from companies of any size and from any country, promoting a global commitment to sustainable industrial development.
Applicants must demonstrate how their work has led to a notable improvement in the overall environmental sustainability of their organisation. This may involve advancements in product or process development, as well as improvements in operational or business processes. The SCI encourages applications showcasing tangible outcomes that have made a measurable impact on environmental performance and sustainability practices.
Nominations for the award are managed directly by the Society of Chemical Industry and are accepted through self-nomination. Applicants are required to complete an online application form and provide detailed information about their sustainability innovations and achievements. Shortlisted candidates and eventual recipients are honoured at the SCI Awards Dinner, where excellence in sustainable science and industrial innovation is celebrated.
The award continues to highlight the importance of science-driven sustainability in addressing global challenges and encourages collaboration across industries to promote environmental responsibility.
