Equality Now, The OpEd Project, and Senior Advisor Ann MacDougall are delighted to be in partnership in launching the 2023 US Public Voices Fellowship on Advancing the Rights of Women and Girls.
The Public Voices Fellowship on Advancing the Rights of Women and Girls is a year-long initiative to accelerate the ideas and impact of 20 new thought leaders whose ideas can help break down the barriers that are continuing to hold women and girls back. Participants will receive extraordinary support, skills, and mentoring to ensure their ideas shape the greater public conversation.

Fellowship Details
- All workshops are provided free of charge, and all sessions are compulsory. The second convening will be held in person in New York City, and a limited number of travel and lodging stipends are available for those who need them.
- In addition, all participants MUST commit to writing a minimum of two op-ed (opinion) pieces and hopefully many more. They also encourage fellows to engage in other public forms of thought leadership (TED-style talk; podcast; etc.) during their fellowship.
- Fellows will receive ongoing coaching throughout the Fellowship from dedicated and experienced media professionals who will provide regular, one-on-one assistance with developing ideas, editing, and media placement.
- The combination of seminars and mentorship will provide fellows with a range of tools to communicate their ideas in the public sphere. They will learn how to generate new ideas; develop strategies for being timely at any time; write and pitch persuasive op-eds; and join a network of diverse and inspiring peers.
Eligibility Criteria
- The 2023 Public Voices Fellowship on Advancing the Rights of Women and Girls is looking for:
- 20 fellows
- Located in the USA
- Innovative thinkers with a solutions-oriented mindset
- Participants must be over 18 years old
- Representation from a diverse mix of people across all identities, including nationalities
Dates
Those selected as fellows MUST commit to participating in all four convening sessions continuously and in full on the following dates:
- First: July 26th, 27th, and 28th, 2023, 1-4:30pm ET, virtual
- Second: October 6th, 2023, 10am-5pm ET in person
- Third: December 14th and 15th, 2023, 1-4:30pm ET virtual
- Fourth: February 29th, Mar 1st, 2024, 1-4:30pm ET virtual
