If your child is between the ages of 6 – 17 and lives with sickness, disadvantage or disability, and also has a demonstrated gift or talent in the areas of Arts, Sport or Education, then you might be eligible for the Variety Heart Scholarships program.
Variety recognises the many challenges kids have when living with sickness, disadvantage, or disability. These challenges are often met with determination as many kids go on to achieve success in their chosen fields.
The Variety Heart Scholarships support the continued development of talented or gifted WA kids striving to achieve excellence in fields of the arts, sport, or education. The scholarship provides practical support in funding tuition, equipment, competition fees and more allowing kids to follow their dreams.
Scholarship Areas
- The Arts – Visual arts, Music/Instrument, Dance, Singing, Performing Arts
- Sport – Basketball, Martial Arts, Athletics, Swimming
- Education – Extracurricular academic pursuits
Funding Information
- Request limit: $4,000
- Scholarships are valid for 12 months from the date of approval. All allocated funds must be spent within that period, any unspent allocated funds will be rescinded.
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants must reside in WA
- Applicants must be living with sickness, disadvantage or disability
- Applicants must be within the age range of 6 to 17 at the time of application
- Applicants must demonstrate existing talent, passion or notable potential in one of these areas; the arts, sport or education (extracurricular)
- Applicants’ achievements/potential must be able to be verified (in a support letter) by a relevant professional in the area
- Applicants’ family annual household income should not exceed $90,000 (disadvantage) or $120,000 (sick/disability)
- Previous recipients can re-apply again.
Ineligible Requests
- Retrospective funding
- School fees / Tutoring (School curriculum)
- Parking, petrol & car costs
- Ongoing repairs/maintenance of equipment
- Travel cost associated with anyone other than recipient
