The Youth Empowerment in Climate Action Platform (YECAP) is inviting applications for a six-month comprehensive regional youth-led Fellowship Programme to train young leaders across Asia and the Pacific in meaningful youth engagement in climate action.
The fellowship will be included in modules on climate education, community engagement, mobilization and outreach in broader networks, and opportunities for the fellows to work together as a collective and a personal capstone project. This is an unpaid fellowship programme.
During the third Cohort, YECAP Fellowship Programme will provide a platform for 100 young people across the Asia Pacific to work with a diverse group of young climate activists and to contribute towards elevating their voices to advocate for climate action priorities and systematic change throughout the journey. Fellows will join the six-month fellowship in the following sectors – communication, coordination and specialist.

- After completing the Fellowship, the Fellows will receive an official YECAP certificate and acknowledgement of their active participation and initiation throughout the programme.
Stages of YECAP Fellowship
- Inception: Launching the Fellowship application, screening the applications and shortlisting to onboard the selected Fellows.
- Mentoring: Guiding the Fellows to choose a particular team to work with and participate in different tasks and activities during the Fellowship to enrich their experience.
- Scaling Up: Guiding the Fellows to improve their skills through monthly trainings and progress meetings, leveraging peer-to-peer learning opportunities and initiating climate ideas to implement in the next level.
- Networking: Connecting with the local youth networks, startups, private sector, governments, development organizations to scale up the impact of the programme by implementing climate action ideas in local communities.
Time Commitment
- The selected fellows will work closely with the respective team leads during this fellowship and will be required to commit up to 4-5 hours per week.
- The fellowship will ideally start on 21 August 2022 for 6 months extended up to 1 month if required. The start date should not be later than 25 August 2022, and the end date will not be later than 31 March 2023.
Eligibility Criteria
- Any young person from the Asia-Pacific region, aged between 18-35
- Can commit to the 6-month programme which involves 4-5 hours of weekly engagement
- Driven to enhance your climate action and scale your impact nationally and regionally
- Minimum of one-year work experience in community building, climate change or youth engagement.
