The Yunus & Youth is inviting applications from young social entrepreneurs for its Latam Fellowship 2020 which is a free, virtual, six-month acceleration program for social entrepreneurs. It is designed to empower young social entrepreneurs through expert training and mentoring to develop their full potential.
Founded in 2014 with the support of the Nobel Peace Prize winner Muhammad Yunus, Yunus & Youth (Y&Y) connects social entrepreneurs with business experts to build successful solutions and financially sustainable that addresses the world’s most urgent needs.
Early-stage ventures have particular needs that must be met in order for them to grow.
- Do you need help perfecting your value proposition?
- Do you want support to create your marketing strategy and access to potential clients?
- Need advice with the marketing, recruiting, and other services associated with rapid growth?
- Need help creating financial projections, statements and controls?
Y&Y Fellows receive support to:
- Strengthen and validate the business model
- Define a strategy to scale social impact
Benefits
- Training: Fellows receive training on social business and innovation to strengthen their business plan.
- Mentoring: The Fellows and Mentors are grouped according to the entrepreneur’s needs and the strengths of the Mentor duo.
- Competition: Fellows have the opportunity to present their proposal to a panel of real investors.
- Y&Y Network: Fellows who complete all stages of the program receive a graduation certificate and become part of our exclusive network.
Selection Criteria
In the latest global issue, Y&Y received applications from thousands of young leaders around the world, and was similar figures are expected for the first Latin American edition. Y&Y Fellows will be selected based on the following criteria:
- Demonstrated dedication and commitment to building a social enterprise and solving a problem in community, as a way to contribute to the fulfillment of the Development Goals.
- Sustainable Development and mitigation of the effects of COVID-19.
- Availability to receive professional guidance and work to grow and develop social enterprise.
- Social business that solves a problem related to the impact generated by COVID-19.
- Be a founder, co-founder or have full decision-making power.
- Social business in an early stage.
- Show dedication, commitment and openness.
- Fluency in Spanish.
- Reside in a Latin American country.
- Be between 18 and 30 years old (preferred, not exclusive).
- Special agreement for:
- Solicitors who identify as part of ethnic / racial minorities, LGBTQ +, refuges and persons displaced or persons with disability,
- Innovations that specifically lead to the problems that address the following groups: young people, women, ethnic minorities / races, LGBTQ +, refuges and people who have lost their lives persons with disability,
- Ideas that integrate new technologies.
